Accounting skills
Communication Skills
Accountants are usually in communication with employees or people of all different levels, depending on whether they are employed or work independently. Consequently, these professionals must constantly write emails and speak with different department heads in garnering expenditure as well as revenue information. For example, accounts payable accountants must speak with marketing managers and directors about their expenditures for marketing research and advertising, determining whether they stayed within their budget. Accountants must also write reports and presentations for upper management, periodically highlighting the companys financial performance. So, they must possess the ability to speak effectively and easily with a diverse set of people.Analytical Skills

Accountants must possess analytical skills. They must constantly work with financial analysts and managers in finding ways to reduce expenses, or finding ways to efficiently allocate more money for specific functions in a given year. Accountants must also analyze each departments budget, finding ways to cut less necessary expenses.
Computer Skills
Most balance sheets and income statements are automated. Accountants need to know how to use various accounting software programs and spreadsheets to create these financial statements and keep them up-to-date. Those working in accounting need to be skilled with various database software programs to keep track of customertures, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Aptitude for Numbers

An aptitude for numbers is essential to anyone who works in accounting. They work with numbers practically every hour of the day. They must know how to perform simple to more difficult calculations. An accountant must also know the proper way to round off zeros and designate numbers in reports as "in thousands" or "in millions" to fit the number in various spreadsheet data tables.

I like your blog. It's very helpful! This blog talks about four skills that an accountant should have. I think communication skill is the most inportant one among those four because it helps an accountant to explain financial reports to their customers or managers. Analytical skill is also necessary because accountants should judge the financial condition of a business based on accurate analysis.
